The loss of a loved one is always significant. In time, the period called mourning gradually develops. Getting through the stages of mourning: is it easier when you are a Christian? Sister Cecilia, prioress of the Community of the New Covenant and facilitator at the mourning sessions organized at the shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon, proposes answers to the Catholic Radio RCF.

The loss of a loved one is always significant. In time, the period called mourning gradually develops. In this first encounter with Sister Cecilia, RCF journalist Guillaume Desanges invites us to discover this process which nonetheless is part of life.

Stages of mourning, part 2

Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross identified 5 stages experienced by the kin: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Sister Cecilia would rather speak of the various “states” in mourning, because the course – or rather the courses – involved in mourning are not undeviating. Moreover, emotions can play hide and seek and often waiver from one to another as well as be overwhelming.
