A theology session on hope

On October 9-10, 2025, the Shrine of Notre-Dame de Montligeon will host a theology session open to all, on the core theme of Christian hope.

On October 9-10, 2025, the Shrine of Notre-Dame de Montligeon will host a theology session open to all, the core theme being “The Last Things and Christian Hope”. Don Paul Préaux, priest, head of the Saint-Martin community and former rector of the Shrine from 1995 to 2010, will lead this theological training session.

This conference is for all those who wish to reflect in depth on the promise of eternal life, illuminated by faith in Christ.

“It is with great joy that I am back in this beautiful sanctuary of hope, for this theology session which will focus on the topic of the last things and the subject of hope,” said don Paul.

Christ, source of our hope

During this session, don Paul will provide several teachings rooted in the Scriptures and the Christian theology.

“We will see how Christ is truly the source and foundation of Christian hope. He fulfills the promises of the Old Testament through his word, ministry, death and resurrection.”

This reflection will also allow us to deepen the link between our desire for happiness and the hope of Heaven. Christ not only calls us to look forward to eternal life, he fulfills the promise of that life in us here below.

Hope alive against all odds

The session will also address a key question: how can we sustain our hope in times of hardship?

Don Paul states this quite clearly: “How do we deal with illness, bereavement and failure? How do we link our human hopes, which are necessarily limited, to hope-capital ‘H’, the hope of eternal life?”

This training will also offer listening moments, to support those who experience ordeals and look for strong Christian guidance, in order to help them discern and be consoled.

A session open to all

Organized in conjunction with the Institut Normand de Sciences Religieuses in Caen, this session will take place at Montligeon on Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10, 2025.

The program includes :

  • Teaching times: 7 hours of training spread over two days,
  • Prayer times in the shrine,
  • Discussions and round tables,
  • Shared meals, encouraging fraternal encounters.

“This session is open to all those who wish to go further in their theological reflection,” says Don Paul.

Whether you’re a student, a retired person, a teacher, a committed member of the faithful or simply a seeker of meaning, you’ll find something to nourish your faith.
