An ex-voto to St Joseph in Montligeon, why?

An ex-voto is an artefact -usually a plaque of marble – that is deposited in a church, in thanksgiving for the fulfillment of a prayer granted through the intercession of a Saint. It is a tangible gesture of gratitude.

Ex-votos can be found in the village parish church of La Chapelle-Montligeon and in the basilica of the shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon. They have been gradually posted by pilgrims ever since the onset of the Montligeon charitable Work.

Dates to comply with:

February 28, 2022: closing of orders for ex-votos
March 8, 2022: onset of the making of your ex-voto
March 19, 2022: hanging of ex-votos on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph

Thanking Saint Joseph

The year devoted to St Joseph closed on December 8, 2021. Got a special grace through St Joseph’s intercession? You would like to thank him?

Why not have your “Thank you” engraved on a slate of white marble? It will be created by a marble artisan and set in the chapel devoted to St Joseph at the basilica of Our Lady of Montligeon, on his solemnity on March 19, 2021.

Price: 40 € (price charged by the local marble craftsman). You might also wish to add some donation or offering, to support the shrine. Three amounts are suggested: €20, 40 or 100, which will be added to the €40 cost of your ex-voto.

The orders for ex-votos to St Joseph are now closed.

The latest orders are now in production.
Watch out for the inauguration on March 19, 2022.
