Update on the Restoration Works on the Basilica 2026: Roofing, Masonry

On February 25, 2026, a site meeting was held on the south roof of the basilica of Notre-Dame de Montligeon to review the progress of restoration work. The meeting brought together François Pougheol, expert heritage architect in charge of site supervision, Alexis Effroy, general secretary of the shrine, Guillaume Le Breton, site supervisor for masonry contractor Lefèvre, and David Baudouin, operations manager for roofing company Hériau.

The meeting, which was held directly on the scaffolding set up around the main choir, provided an opportunity to examine the condition of the masonry, the stonework and the south roof covering. Discussions focused on the coordination of the various interventions underway, the repair of certain weakened parts of the structure and the operations required to ensure the watertightness and solidity of the roof.
