On Sunday June 29, 2025, the shrine of Montligeon was host to over 600 motorcyclists for the traditional blessing of motorcycles. It was a day of brotherliness, a combination of prayer, petrol heads passion-sharing and reunions. Plunge into the atmosphere of the day through estimonies and pictures.
An unmissable event
Every year, more and more bikers make Montligeon their rendezvous. On this last Sunday in June, over 600 bikers took to the road to entrust both their bikes and their itineraries to Our Lady. Men and women, clubs and solo riders, novices and veterans, all converged to the basilica to attend the mass and receive a blessing.
“It’s our first time, but certainly not our last,” says Laurence, beaming, her helmet in hand.
Attending the mass, leaving intentions, getting protection
The day begins with Sunday mass, with bikers in the front rows. For many, this is an opportunity to pray for those killed on the road’, to leave an intention or light a candle.
“We come for mass, to light a candle, and put our journey under the protection of the Virgin Mary,” says Tony.
Bless the bikes, bless the roads
At the end of the church service, the priests move out onto the forecourt, then between the rows of motorcycles parked on the esplanade. Each person receives an individual blessing, in a prayerful yet joyful atmosphere.
Émilie came with her children:
“I came to baptize my motorcycle, and they wanted to be blessed too. It’s a powerful moment for all of us.”
