Humility
Unlike pride, humility is the renunciation of one’s will. It is not a morale virtue but a fundamental attitude of Christians seeking to follow Jesus. Do we seek to spend our life navel-gazing or to follow Jesus and be servants of one another?
Pilgrimage
A pilgrimage takes one to a blessed location or to a shrine, which helps facilitate one’s encounter with God. The pilgrimage is the image of the reality of our soul, i.e. being on the way to Heaven. The sacraments are our food while we are on our way.
Liturgy
In the New Testament, liturgy has three meanings: divine worship, proclaiming the Good News, practicing charity in deeds. Typically, these three functions derive from the priesthood of Christ. If our life is grafted on Him, any charitable deed towards others, and specifically towards our dead, is potent.
Homily
The faithful often complain about the priest’s inefficiency to touch them with his homily. Yet, as Gregory the Great points out, if the faithful attends Mass as someone who knows it all, it surely will be difficult to nourish him! During the homely of a more or less gifted preacher, are we in an attitude of receptivity towards Jesus?

Deceased
Why do we say “deceased” instead of “dead” ? Death is the contrary of life. A deceased is someone who has accomplished his assignment, and reached the end of his journey. For the Church, the deceased is someone who has not yet entirely passed into Heaven. He is in need of our prayers and petitions.
