Praying to keep the link with my deceased husband

“My name is Sonia and I live in Martinique.” Since she got retired, she used to spend half her time between her island and mainland France, six months here and six months there. But in May 2022, her husband passed away. Despite the pain, Sonia chose to continue sharing her time on that pattern, like a thread of continuity.

The discovery of Montligeon after the loss of her husband

After his death, she was obsessed by one question: how could she continue to pray for him? She then went to the bookshop La Procure in Paris, where she discovered several prayer booklets. “I found the Montligeon prayer for the deceased in that shop”, she said, pointing to the little booklet she keeps preciously. It has become a discreet companion for her, a guide to her prayers.

Praying faithfully for the dead

Even before her husband’s death, Sonia had been praying for the souls in purgatory. Since May 2022, this approach has taken on a new dimension. “I wanted to have prayers for him, to remain one with him,” she explains. So she bought several booklets to accompany her on this spiritual journey.

Feeling the presence of Jesus and the bond with her husband

When Sonia prays, she testifies to an experience of closeness. “Do you feel connected to your husband? Yes, I do! Completely. Jesus, you’re here,” she answers without hesitation. For her, prayer becomes a meeting place, where the love she enjoyed in her marriage remains enlightened by the presence of Christ – beyond death.

You too can join the Fraternité de Montligeon to entrust your deceased loved ones to the prayer of the Church and, like Sonia, experience this hopeful bond with the departed during the Pilgrimages of Heaven.
