Offer a roof slate to the basilica of Montligeon! Seventy-nine thousand and five hundred slates, dating back to 1910, are in urgent need of remplacement. You can help the shrine by offering one or several customizable slate(s). The Sisters of the New Covenant will handwrite your name – or that of a beloved of your choice – on the reverse of each of your slates.
“The shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon is a place that offers solace, comfort and consolation. Mostly visited when seeking peace and hope, in times of trial or difficulties, but especially in mourning and bereavement. This welcoming place that receives all needs you today.”
Don Paul Denizot, rector of the shrine of Montligeon
79500 roof slates to be replaced
The erection of the basilica of Montligeon began in 1896. The roof covering the nave and choir was completed in 1903, its slates are the originals. Over the years, the roofing has become impaired and all of the seventy-nine thousand and five hundred slates urgently need to be replaced.
Customizable slates
Offer one or several slate(s) and have your name – or that of a beloved of your choice – handwritten by the Sisters of the New Covenant on the reverse of each of your slates. They will be fitted on the new basilica rooftop, and set to last over a century.
