In order to get the roof of its basilica renovated, the shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon proposes donators the opportunity to have their slate(s) personalised. This approach has particularly touched Laurette and Alexis. Here is their testimony.
Laurette, mother of three young men, is rather acquainted with the shrine of Montligeon.
When she heard of the opportunity to offer slates as a gift, she decided to have one offered for each of her sons.
“They don’t go to church much,” she confides. On account of my slates for them, my kids will be part of Montligeon basilica !”
For his part, Alexis offered a slate. He is especially sensitive to the prayer for the donators:
“When the nun handwrites the first and last names on the slate, she actually prays for the person while doing it. Not only does our gesture have a temporal dimension, but on top of it all, we also receive the gift of the sisters’ prayer.”
Offering a slate for the basilica of Montligeon: an appeal that makes sense
- Helping the Shrine of Montligeon continue its ministry
- Maintain heritage
- Allow the basilica to remain a place of peace and consolation for yet another century!
A slate, a name, a prayer, a century…
The basilica of Our Lady of Montligeon is a place of prayer, peace and grace, especially dedicated to the prayer for the deceased. Several of its constituents are in urgent need of renovation. Such is the case for the slates of the nave and of choir roofing, which date back to 1906. They are no longer watertight and thus the framework is in jeopardy.
That is why the shrine has launched a subscription to cover the roof expenditure. The shrine is proposing to those who wish to help to offer personalised slates. On each slate, the Sisters of the New Covenant will handwrite the first and last names of a given person, together with the date of the subscription.
The slates will then be laid down on the roof framework of the basilica and remain for at least a century.
Many thanks in advance for your support!
